Overview:
Timestone is an augmented reality mobile app that helps users experience historical monuments in their original form using 3D holographic reconstructions. It solves a key visitor challenge: many heritage sites are incomplete or damaged, making it hard to imagine how they once looked. Acting as a self-guided digital tour guide, the app overlays AR reconstructions on real structures and provides location-based stories, audio, and interactive historical facts. Research (survey + interviews) shaped features like simple AR controls, smart filters (era/location), and past vs present switching. Usability testing showed strong results with 92% task completion, ~10 min average task time, and ~90% satisfaction, with scope to improve filters and add presets.
